Let's take a look back at the eventful history of the festival with us!

On October 24, 1997, the PERLEN celebrated their premiere, then still under the title "lesbian-gay film festival Hannover". In 2011, it was renamed "Queer Film Festival Hannover". However, queer cinema had already had a long tradition at KoKi. Since the late 1970s, the "Gay Film Days Hanover" had been held regularly at the Municipal Cinema, largely initiated and supported by the long-time cinema director Sigurd Hermes. By now, the PERLEN see themselves as a (gender)queer festival that increasingly provides space for films addressing transident, intersex, and non-binary themes.

The program booklets and film descriptions from past festivals will be available at this location in the future. Currently, you can only take a look at the years 2024 - 2025. More program booklets will follow! Please note that the subpages (and the program booklets) are only available in German.
