Summery Film Gems in Hanover

The festival team of PERLEN presents the small queer film series "Sommerperlen" again at the cinema in the Künstlerhaus!

The name says it all: The "Sommerperlen" spread summery feelings on the big screen in four screenings. It all begins on Whit Monday with a new edition of the colorful short film program SOMMERPERLCHEN, which proved to be a true audience favorite last year. Seven queer short films, including two animated films, delight with creativity, diversity, and occasionally more serious moments.

The early evening on Tuesday is dedicated to the touching documentary INTO MY NAME from Italy, which portrays four very different young trans men and their friendship.

The feature films create a Mediterranean atmosphere and a nostalgic mood, without neglecting the political perspective. On Monday evening, THE BEAUTIFUL SUMMER tells the story of a young woman's first love among artists in fascist Italy of the 1930s in captivating images.

The gay coming-of-age film LOVE & REVOLUTION portrays the beginning of the queer emancipation movement in Spain at the end of the 1970s on Tuesday evening. Although the Franco regime had been overcome, the fight against prejudice and discrimination was just beginning – captivating, vibrant, thought-provoking, and empowering!
