Warm welcome to PERLEN 2025! Traditionally, we ceremoniously open the festival with a kickoff event in the large cinema hall. Come by and share with us the anticipation for 9 inspiring and diverse days centered around queer film!

We look forward to greetings from Hanover's city politics and from the queer community. Among our guests are representatives from two organizations that have long been friends of our festival, namely Andersraum e.V. and Bildungsverein Hannover. Of course, the PERLEN team will also introduce themselves and provide an overview of this year's program. You will also learn about each team member's personal favorite films.

The afternoon will be musically enhanced by true newcomers in the local choir scene: Meine Herr’n is Hanover's new gay men’s choir. Freshly founded and full of enthusiasm, this musical project has been developing since October 2024, aiming to be more than just a choir – it seeks to be a place for community, diversity, and sound, as well as a new, important voice in Hanover’s queer choir landscape. Under the direction of Steffen Henning, the diverse group is working on a varied repertoire. The range spans from traditional male choir literature to iconic and modern pop arrangements. Meine Herr’n is still in its early stages but is very excited about everything that lies ahead. New voices, creative ideas, collaborations, and supportive encouragement are warmly welcome.
